Slow mornings

Slow mornings

Last week, I wrote a bit about my weekend mornings, and how I like to go all out on breakfast with my favorite “grød”, almond milk porridge (recipe here).

I love quiet weekend mornings, where I don’t have any plans until later in the day and can spend the entire morning lounging around in my fluffy robe, sipping coffee and reading the news or solving a crossword. I’m also seriously considering a newspaper subscription for the weekend!

One of my Christmas gifts – and I say “my”, because my boyfriend is not a coffee person – was a Chemex coffee maker, a beautiful glass carafe with a wooden handle and leather band for making pourover brewed coffee. When I was growing up, my parents never had a coffee machine – my mom thinks they’re ugly and take up too much counter space – so I’m used to making pourover coffee.

I’ve just never had such a pretty coffee pot before! *insert heart eyes emoji*

There’s just something incredibly relaxing about the ritual of hand-brewing coffee. We’re so used to getting everything by the push of a button, so it feels nice to do something with your hands, even if it’s “just” pouring water over some coffee grounds.

Deceleration, slow living, and all that.

What’s your favorite coffee?

Now, question for all the coffee lovers out there: what’s your favorite bean or ground coffee? And do you buy grounds, or hand-grind from beans?

I’ve only recently gotten back into brewed coffee, after a couple of years of Nespresso focus, and I’m still on the hunt for my go-to coffee, so any suggestions you have are more than welcome!
