Spa day at Kurhotel Skodsborg
As I mentioned in my post about turning 30, I spent my about half of my birthday spoiling myself with a spa day at Kurhotel Skodsborg.
If you ever need a little time-out, I strongly suggest a trip there!
Located a little north of Copenhagen, close to Klampenborg deer park and with a beautiful view over the Øresund, you’ll find this gem, founded in 1898 as a sanatorium, but since turned luxury hotel and spa. In fact, it was named the best wellness luxury spa in Europe in 2016.
In the beautifully designed spa, you’ll find a 100 sqm hydrospa with grottos, massage showers, different saunas, steam saunas, and a Rasul, a salt cave, an ice rain shower, and all sorts of other amazing water treatments.
As well as a variety of healthy refreshments to revive your body and mind.
Did I immediately make a jug of cucumber water when I got home? I absolutely did.
I spent about three hours in the spa, paddling around in the pool, trying out the different saunas (although not the 90 degrees one, because I don’t have a death wish), enjoying the different showers – I particularly liked the one where you walk on stones in ice cold water, with cold mist coming from above, so refreshing!
I also really liked the salt cave, it’s not too hot, and the salty air is really good for the sinuses. It reminded me of my “nose buddy” nasal douche, which has done wonders to help me shake my nose spray addiction.
Thoroughly relaxed, I was ready for lunch in the lobby.
Lunch consisted of two pieces of paleo smørrebrød – I chose the one with avocado, radishes, and almonds, as well as one with cured salmon. Both were not only amazingly delicious, but also absolutely beautiful to look at!
To wash them down, I chose one of their healthy juices, the “Anti Age” juice – it was my 30th birthday, after all, so I figured it was time…
I finished with a cup of coffee, before heading back home to get ready to celebrate my birthday with some cocktails and friends.
The spa lunch at Kurhotel Skodsborg, which includes access to the spa as well as lunch in the lobby, costs 700 DKK, but honestly, I don’t think you’ll get a better spa experience anywhere around Copenhagen. So if you’re going to treat yourself (or one of your favorite people), you might as well splurge and go for the luxury edition!
What’s the best spa experience you’ve had? Let me know in the comments!
I received a gift card for a spa lunch at Kurhotel Skodsborg as part of a bloggers’ event. I was not obliged to write about my experience, and as always, all opinions are my own.
