Hey everyone – I thought I’d share a short post before we’re off on our almost 4-week vacation, starting off in London and then heading to the US for a road trip from Washington, D.C., to New Orleans.
I have this idea that I’ll write a couple of blog posts while we’re over there, but I’m more than aware that life tends to get in the way, so I’m not making any promises. I will be posting excessively on Instagram, though, so if you want to keep up to date with our adventures, you should follow me there at @laura_cphtales.
Obviously, I’ll be taking tons of photos the entire time, so at the very least you can expect a flood of posts coming up as soon as we get back at the end of October.
By the time you’re reading this, we’ve made our way to London, where we’ll attend the NFL game between my New Orleans Saints at the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium. It’s been seven years since I’ve seen the Saints in a stadium, so I’m thrilled! And yes, I do get the irony of going to London to watch an NFL game and then going to the States afterwards – but A), our US trip was planned only after we’d gotten the tickets; and B), the Saints don’t have any home games when we’re over there, so it all works out!
From London, we’ll travel on to Washington, where we’ll pick up a rental car for our drive through the South all the way to New Orleans, with the following stops:
We’ll cover about 3,000 kilometers on our way to New Orleans, where we’ll stay for five days, which feels way too short for a stay in one of my favorite cities on the planet!
At this point, I also want to say a big thank you to all of you who have posted comments or sent emails with recommendations for where to go, what to see, and most importantly, your restaurant tips along the route! I have collected them all in a big spreadsheet, and I’m looking forward to trying them whenever possible.
Hope to see you on Instagram, otherwise I’ll be back in late October at the very latest!
See ya! 🙋
