Who doesn’t love puff pastry? It’s so versatile – there are virtually no limits to what you can do with it. Sweet, salty, anything goes. It’s great for tartes and pies, you can make nests or wrap things in it, twist it and turn in, fold it and cut it, the possibilities are endless.
When you have guests but don’t want to serve an entire dinner, some finger food is always great, and homemade appetizers and small nibbles definitely beat a bowl of store bought chips and dip! Today, I’m sharing two really easy recipes for puff pastry finger food that always come out great. They are simple because they use ready-made puff pastry dough, but they still count as homemade because you’re putting in an effort!
Bacon and cheese twisters
(makes 12-14 sticks)
1 package puff pastry dough (chilled)
6-7 slices of bacon
ca. 100g of grated mozzarella or pizza cheese
Roll out the puff pastry. Cut the rectangle into 6-7 strips from the short end and half the strips, leaving you with 12 or 14. Half the slices of bacon and put one on each puff pastry strip. Carefully twist the strip a couple of times and put on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the cheese and bake according to directions for the puff pastry, keeping an eye on it to make sure they don’t turn too brown (ca. 15min).
Small spinach and feta croissants
(for 12 croissants)
2 packages of croissant dough (this type)
two handfuls fresh spinach leaves
100g feta cheese
50g grated mozzarella
1 tbsp. olive oil
salt, pepper
Finely chop the spinach leaves and feta cheese and mix with mozzarella, Add olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper. You can also put the mixture in the blending cup of a stick blender if you prefer it to be smooth.

Roll out the croissant dough, separate the triangles and put 1-2 tbsp. of the mix on each. Carefully roll up – I usually flip up the ends as well to prevent the mixture from coming out. Bake according to instructions.
