Can you believe it? Spring is FINALLY here!
Actually, it’s almost as if we skipped spring completely and went straight from winter to summer, at least that’s what it feels like right now with the sun beaming in the sky. Just in time for the long weekend, too! It’s Ascension Day today, and a lot of businesses are closed tomorrow, so that gives us four days to enjoy the beautiful weather.
We’re planning a little trip up to the summer house in Rørvig, and the anticipation got me thinking back to last summer, when we went up there with my family and rented the most amazing cottage (see my post about the beautiful sunsets we saw at the beach here). It’s not a classic Danish summer house, like the one my boyfriend’s parents have (read more here).
What I’m showing you today is a white, New England-style cottage with a huge patio and garden. Everything is custom-made and impeccable, both the carpentry and the decorations. It’s perfect for long summer nights on the patio, but would also be great for a winter trip with a fire crackling in the fire place.
I also loved the courtyard - a big white, wooden gate opening into the yard, with the main house, a little shed, and a game room (though there were quad bikes parked in there during our stay).
The big living room is adjacent to the huge kitchen, which has an almost industrial size gas stove, two dish washers, and all the kitchen tools you could possibly ask for. Of course, there’s a huge American fridge with an ice cube maker, too! And on the patio, you’ll find a huge grill for those barbecue nights.
The bedrooms are all absolutely beautiful, with queen or king size beds and the prettiest wallpapers. The carefully selected decorations give the rooms personality.
Everything is so well thought out and designed with such a love for details, from the handcrafted wooden door frames to the appliances in the bathrooms - you won’t find anything out of place here. But still, the house feels comfortable, cozy, and welcoming, not like an expensive showroom where you’re afraid to touch anything.
I can’t wait to rent this house again in the future - I hope my family is up for another summer vacation in Denmark soon! And who knows, maybe one fine day, I’ll own a similar summer house myself… a girl can dream!
Hope you have a lovely long weekend!
The summer house is available for rent for example here. This is not a sponsored post.
